11/15/18 – Dr. Gene Wang

I am pleased to announce that I have hired Dr. Gene Wang as our associate dentist.  Dr. Wang is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and went to dental school at The University of Pittsburgh.  School of Dental Medicine, where he earned dental degree (DMD).  Through friends he heard that the Northwest was a nice part of the country so he chose to do an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in Tacoma, Washington.  He completed this one year program in  July 2018.  Dr. Wang has now been working in the practice for 3 months and I have found him to be a very good fit.  He is hard working with a great attention to detail.  My goal with bringing Dr. Wang into the practice is to expand our hours to include Fridays and to take some of the work load off me Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Dr. Wang has many interests including his church, basketball and cooking.  He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Bruxism is the involuntary or habitual grinding of the teeth, typically during sleep and it is more common than you think. Grinding and clenching can cause serious damage to your teeth as well as jaw pain. A night guard can be used to protect your teeth! Dental implants, crowns, and fillings can be pricey and night guards are one of the best ways to protect your investments. Come on in and Dr. Quickstad can let you know if you can benefit from a night guard.

February is National Children’s Dental Health month!

Do your kids know how to properly take care of their teeth? As a dental health professional and as a parent we need to communicate the importance of good oral health to our loved ones at a young age. The American Dental Association has been celebrating and promoting February as Children’s Dental Health Month since 1981 with the idea that, ”Attitudes and habits established at an early age are critical in maintaining good oral health throughout life. By participating in the annual celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, members of the dental team, parents, teachers and others can help keep children’s smiles beautiful now and for years to come.

Here are a few tips for helping your child keep their healthy smile

Brush regularly with a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste, 2 times a day.  Young children need help from their parents to get all the surfaces of the teeth and to avoid swallowing the toothpaste.

Introduce flossing at a young age. Children tend to have a hard time with regular floss but with your help they can learn! Flossers with plastic holders are easier for them as well. Ask Dr. Quickstad or anyone in our office to show you what product we recommend for children.

Dental visits are very important as well. Bring your child in for a meet and greet and a tour of the office to get them comfortable. We’ll introduce them “Mr. Thirsty” (the suction) as well as the air and water and polisher. They will even get tokens and a trip to the toy tower after!

Dental Sealants are a great barrier against decay, or as we call it with the kids, Sugar Bugs! Sealants are a thin plastic material added to the biting surface of a child’s permanent molars where most cavities form.

$200 off Philips Zoom! In-Office Bleaching

Are you ready for a brighter smile? Come on in to our office for a $200 discount on an in-office bleaching session. Also, ask Wendy or Staci about a $50 mail-in rebate! One of our experienced assistants will walk you through the Philips Zoom Whitespeed process while you sit and relax.  Philips advertises, “In 45 minutes your teeth could be up to 8 shades whiter, reversing stains from food and drinks, aging, even discoloration from some types of medication.” Our patients have benefited from these results!

A Zoom! Bleach session requires 2 appointments.

The first appointment is a consult with Dr. Quickstad to review your options and discuss the process of our in-office bleaching session. Dr. Quickstad can answer any and all questions or concerns at this time. If you choose to proceed with an in-office bleaching, immediately following the consult we will take impressions of your upper and lower teeth. This is done so we can make custom bleach trays for you to take home to maintain your bright smile after the in-office bleaching appointment.

The second appointment would be the in-office Zoom! bleaching session. We will schedule you for a 2 hour appointment. An assistant will take before and after photos. After the session is over we will send you home with your new custom bleaching trays and a syringe with a desensitizer and a syringe with more bleach to use in the weeks to follow to maintain your new bright smile.
